MassCor’s Embroidery Shop teaches offenders the high tech skill of digitizing artwork and logos while utilizing state-of-the-art embroidery software. The offenders are taught how to digitally plan out the stitch types, densities, directions and trims. Once the conversion process is complete, the digitized file can be sent via our in-house network to the embroidery machines for production. Offenders working on the embroidery machines are taught the proper skills of hooping, machine operation and general maintenance. This shop embroiders a large amount of clothing, uniforms, promotional items, and custom pieces for various agencies, municipalities, businesses, organizations, and residents.
MassCor’s Flag Shop teaches offenders practical sewing skills while learning to manufacture U.S., Commonwealth of Massachusetts, POW-MIA, and custom flags. All of our flags are fabricated with top quality materials. Our U.S. flag features individually sewn stripes and embroidered stars, available in nylon, cotton, or 2-ply polyester for durability in areas with high winds. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and POW-MIA flags are silk-screened in vibrant colors. MassCor’s Flag Shop also produces cemetery flags, Thin Line flags, and custom flags for various government agencies, non-profit organizations, businesses, and homeowners.
Offenders are taught the skill of using a Serger Sewing Machine to manufacture mesh laundry bags. Thousands of laundry bags are produced each year for various agencies such as the Department of Correction, Massachusetts Sheriff’s Department, and State Hospitals.
MassCor’s Engraving Shop teaches offenders how to program the engraving software and operate the desktop engraving machine in order to produce a variety of engraved door, counter, wall and desk signs in various sizes and colors.
The Embroidery and flag shops are another example of MassCor’s mission to instill a positive work ethic in offenders by providing training and skills for a successful reentry into the community.
